New Boatyard in Kodiak Alaska Selects Marine Business Advisors' Jim Bronstien for Guidance
Kodiak, Alaska… (April 15, 2009)...The City of Kodiak, Alaska has reached across the country and selected Florida based Marine Business Advisor’s President and owner Jim Bronstien to help guide them as they prepare to open a brand new boatyard with a 600ton Marine Travelift designed to service the Alaskan fishing fleet. “We are seasoned in running our marinas in Kodiak, Alaska, but operating a boatyard is a large undertaking. Jim’s vast experience and industry knowledge is a tremendous asset for us and we are very pleased to have him provide us guidance,” said Kodiak’s 15 year veteran Harbormaster Marty Owen. “Marine Travelift recommended we use Marine Business Advisors to assist us and help us as we prepare to open our yard and we are quite happy with their choice.”
Kodiak, Alaska is a major hub for several hundred of the areas commercial fleet of fishing boats. Home to many of the boats featured in Discovery Channel’s famed show “The Deadliest Catch”, the area has long been without a service yard capable of handling these large vessels. Up until now, these boats have had to travel over 200 to 500 miles to reach boatyards with the capacity to haul them. Now, with the vision and backing of the City of Kodiak, a brand new yard will be available right in Kodiak. Scheduled to open this fall, the yard will be able to haul out virtually the entire Kodiak fleet plus many of the cruising yachts that also frequent the area.
Bronstien, thru Marine Business Advisors, joins the Kodiak advisory team with 25 years of major marine business experience; much of it in the boatyard world as Bronstien was the former president and owner of Rybovich in West Palm Beach. During his career there, he built and led the team that transformed the company into the country’s premier boat yard prior to selling the company in 2004. Over the past five years, Bronstien has established himself as a marine industry consultant in high demand for both the international and domestic domains of the yacht and marine industry. As President of Marine Business Advisors, his involvement with select businesses includes such notable companies as Marina Pez Vela in Costa Rica, Saunders Yacht Yard in Alabama, Yacht Path, Broward Marine, Ft. Lauderdale Boat Club, Sacks Yachting Group, and Bellport Group among several others. Bronstien also is a noted industry speaker both domestically and abroad and is quite active in leadership roles in various Marine Trade groups.
