Jim Bronstien recruited by Tom Lewis to head up the team that is bringing Broward back
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – June 13, 2006– Jim Bronstien, the long time marine industry leader and former owner of Rybovich Spencer, today announced that he has agreed to join Tom Lewis as partner and Executive Vice President of Broward Yachts. For over 22 years, Bronstien has been a constant and influential presence in the yacht industry. This move answers the question about Bronstien’s next move since stepping down last year as President of Rybovich after selling his company.
“When I met Jim it became apparent that he was ready for a new business venture. It didn’t take long to realize that he would be a great fit in helping us lead the resurgence of Broward,” says President Tom Lewis. “Jim’s vast knowledge and experience in all facets of the yacht business will be an enormous asset for us and I am excited to have him partner with me as we rebuild Broward.”
“There are very few yacht companies in the area that I would have considered teaming with, but Broward has the heritage and brand and a renewed quality that will put them ahead of the pack”, says Bronstien. “After many meetings with Tom and learning about the direction the company is now taking, it became obvious that Broward is on the way back to again be a major force in yacht building and yacht service and I am energized to help guide that move. Although Palm Beach County will remain my home, I obviously will be adding some more roots in Broward County as well.”
Broward Yachts is known worldwide as the first large scale builder of aluminum megayachts in the U.S. With over 300 yachts built, Browards are seen floating today in oceans and bays all over the world. Originally started by the Dennison family in the 1940’s, Tom Lewis is only the third owner following his purchase of the company from its second owner in March 2005.
Bronstien’s background in the industry is impressive with 22 years with Rybovich Spencer. Responsibilities there ranged from human resources to operations to marketing to executive management including ownership of the company for 5 years. Jim has been a very active member of the marine industry as well, with board positions on many industry associations including past President and current board member of MIA Palm Beach County, past President and current board member of American Boatbuilders and Repairer’s Association and current board member of MIA South Florida. Jim’s community service has also been extensive with board positions on Palm Beach County’s Tourism Board, Palm Beach County Red Cross Board, Lydian Bank Advisory Board, as well as involvement with many other civic causes.
Broward Yachts constructs megayachts between 100’-150’ in addition to operating a full-service repair and refit yard with space for over 15 yachts out of water as well as 15 megayacht slips in-water. Broward Yachts employs a growing staff that now tops over 125. The 10 acre facility is located in the heart of South Florida’s yachting community at the eastern most end of the Dania Cutoff Canal. |
