Marina Mile Assn. Breakfast Thursday, February 18th: Jim Bronstien, former owner of Rybovich and Marine Industry veteran, to speak about his new Marine Business Advisors consulting company
MONTHLY BREAKFAST MEETING, THURSDAY, FEB. 18TH, 2010
RAMADA INN, 2275 MARINA MILE BLVD.
NETWORKING @ 8 AM, MEETING 8:15 AM, ADJOURNMENT BY 9:30 AM
They say when you want to really know what's going on in your industry, ask a successful person! So I asked our good friend JIM BRONSTIEN, 25-year successful South Florida Marine Industry veteran, now owner of Marine Business Advisors, to speak to you at our upcoming breakfast meeting. Jim is the former owner of Rybovich in West Palm Beach who sold after 21 years to the Huizenga family in 2004. For the past five years he has partnered with numerous marine businesses (you can read all about them at the meeting-along with his impressive resume)-and now has a consulting firm specializing in assisting marine oriented businesses with organizational, operational, and business development issues. Sound like your business could use him? A seasoned public speaker at marine functions, he recently told the International BoatBuilders Conference about what the "new normal" will be in the "post-recession era" and spoke about boatyard economics in an evolving world. Come learn how to survive these changes and position your company for success. Similar to last month when you met the two candidates for election from Dania Beach, joining us this month will be the 6 candidates vying for three district seats. Some we know and some we don't. Come greet them and get their views on marine issues- especially like the large boat yards in that growing city that supports our association. They include in Dist. 2 Cary Casey-Hattan vs. Freda Sherman Stevens; Dist. 3 Susan Starkey vs. Terry Santini; and Dist. 3 Ellis Traub vs. Marlon Luis. Yes, politics in our cities, county, and at state and national levels is an important aspect of our economic viability. Get involved. As a follow-up to last months reports on an upcoming Fla. DOT project to pave much of Marina Mile and hopefully also address traffic issues on perimeter road east of the bridge and DOT drainage issues on both sides of the span, we will have a draft letter for you to review and then a way to communicate to the consultants and employees working on our behalf for improvements needed for many years. Please attend and make your letters count with your specific input. There is also some good news about the Dania Beach Bridge on the agenda. Welcome new member Fred Nash, Broward Signs. And now a word from our sponsor! THE TREASURER AND I REMIND YOU THAT ANNUAL 2010 DUES MUST BE PAID OR A SCHEDULE SET UP AS TO HOW AND WHEN THEY WILL BE PAID AND WE NEED TO FINALIZE THE ROSTERS AND LISTS AND CLOSE THE BOOKS ON CURRENT MEMBERS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY THE NEXT WEEK'S MEETING BY EMAIL OR BRING YOUR CHECKS IF YOU ARE CONTINUING YOUR MEMBERSHIP-or if unfortunately you cannot. Let's all hope for that "post-recession" soon!
